order These pieces are called medium vases but can be used as candle holders, unique gifts, or just a piece of artwork to brighten your room. The bases range from 3-1/2" - 6" square or round and open to 9 - 10" at the top. The heights measure 8 - 9". Depending on size and the glass used these pieces range in price from $125 - $175 each.
All of the items in my shop are made entirely with glass. I use different colors and sizes of glass to create a design. Once I have the glass pieces assembled into my design, I fuse the glass into a flat piece using my kiln. The kiln heats the glass to a temperature hot enough to melt the glass which then fuses the pieces into a solid, flat piece of glass. The second step in creating most of my pieces is to choose a mold, put the mold in the kiln, and lay the flat piece of glass on the mold. When the glass has reached a temperature to make the glass bendable, the flat piece of glass takes on the shape of the mold.
I have several molds that I use to create different sizes and shapes. Many of my smaller pieces have a variety of uses so even though I have labelled the piece a business card holder, bowl, platter, or vase you may find one of the pieces fulfills a need of your own I haven't considered. My larger pieces, I have labelled as vases but I have customers who use them as candle holders, sculptures, centerpieces, and gifts.
My vases, small, medium, or large can be solid, have holes, have a round base or a square base, have rounded top edges or have pointed top edges. Besides, the versatility of my pieces, I absolutely love the individualism of each piece. Even though I may use the same mold, no two pieces come out the same. While the shape is consistent the glass drapes and conforms to the mold differently each time. It is almost like the glass has a mind of its own!
When looking at pictures of my glass, it is extremely hard to see the personality of the piece. Depending on the way light hits the glass, the art piece can change its appearance. A piece that may look kind of blah in a picture, can look amazing when it is sitting in your home.
