"A Little Bird Told Me...."
Size:
80 X 100 centimeters or 31.5 X 40 inches.
Is someone you love expecting a baby before Christmas? Here's a traditional "nine-patch" style pattern bordered with white and blue strips that would be perfect under the tree. Smaller patches repeat in the outer border. I love how all the multi-coloured baby birds are singing their hearts out! The gentle tones will work perfectly for little boys or girls. A yellow-dots-on-white flannelette backing and a very slight poofiness make this quilt particularly cozy and versatile.
Uses:
Wrap it around a new baby for extra warmth and security - particularly effective for lap naps and cuddling - or use it as nap-cover for older babies if summer pitches us a few cool days.
It also makes a colourful coverlet for bassinets, cots, cribs, car seats, and strollers. "A Little Bird Told Me...." would make an excellent gift for a baby shower or to take with you to meet the new baby.
Construction:
The top of the quilt is machine-pieced then machine-quilted to a mid-loft cotton/polyester batting and a cotton flannelette order backing. The quilt is made with care using the finest materials available. Your quilt can be expected to last from one baby to the next and with proper care will become an heirloom for the next generation.
Washing instructions:
Machine wash in cool or warm water with your preferred detergent. Dry in a warm dryer, lie flat to dry, or dry on a clothes line. Ironing isn't necessary but if you'd like to do so use a cotton setting. Do not use bleach. There may be a bit of shrinkage with the first washing - this will give your quilt the lovely rumpled appearance and texture of traditional quilts. Your quilt will become softer and cozier with each subsequent washing.
This quilt was made in a smoke-free home and photographed in my garden.
Avoid using any quilt unsupervised near an open fire or against electric heat sources.
