Robert C. Davis is a professor of Italian Renaissance and pre-modern Mediterranean history and has published a variety of books detailing the history of the Italian Renaissance. Primarily focused on social history, Davis attempts to reconstruct order the lives of ordinary people within the period, from 'the men who built ships for the Venetian navy' within this text, 'Shipbuilders of the Venetian Arsenal', to 'the public brawlers and their popular codes of violence and honor in working-class Venice' in his 1994 text, 'The War of the Fists'.
Within this text Davis comprehensively details the history of ship building in seventeenth-century Venice, drawing on a huge variety of documents and historical archives.

Very slight rubbing to head and tail of spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and very clean throughout. Slight mark to fore edge of page 76, not affecting the text. Dustwrapper is excellent. Slightly bumped to extremities and head and tail of spine. Very small closed tear to head of rear joint. Very slightly rubbed to front joint. Overall: Fine
