Paletot
This is made from a medium weight tan brushed cotton fabric.
Paletot
This is made from a medium weight, tan, brushed cotton fabric. It has a wonderfully soft feel to it and drapes nicely. On my computer the photos show two totally different colors. The darker shade is closer to the actual fabric. (Kind of an orangy-tan.) I'd be happy to mail a sample to you.
A paletot is a jacket like garment that flairs as it falls to the hem so as to accommodate a hoop skirt. This one has order pagoda sleeves trimmed with green 100% cotton cording. There are two pockets decorated with the same green cording; as is the center front, hem and there is scroll work in the center back. (I use chalk to mark where the cording will go so if you see any white traces around the cording it's just the chalk and it will fade away quickly.) The shoulder seems drop off the shoulders just as the dresses did. This is unlined, as the originals were. The seams are pressed open and then top stitched; again, as was typical in the day. It closes with four shell buttons. (An extra button can be found pinned inside the one pocket.) It has a band collar.
Bust - actual measurement - 33" but please allow a few inches of ease.
Neck - 17"
From the center of the back to the sleeve cuff - 26"
Length in center front - 34"
Length in back - 49"
I used a pattern purchased from KayFig Patterns. They can be found here on Etsy at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PatternsOnlyPeriod I HIGHLY recommend the patterns! The quality, attention to detail, research and overall presentation is amazing.
