This is a vintage Russell Coburn carved and hand-painted Kestrel in excellent condition. The bird measures about x inches tall, the entire piece is about x inches high, and x inches wide.
Signed, R. Coburn, who was from Lunenburg Massachusetts where he was an involved and beloved citizen. He carved the eagle that is displayed in the fire station there, and ironically, was saved from a house fire by that same department one year before his death in 2000. He also sold some of his carvings at a shop in the Brookfields in Central Massachusetts.
Since it's arrival here, I have dusted it, but not cleaned it in any other way. This was from the estate of a serious collector in Worcester who was a talented carver herself.
All original, hand-carved from basswood and painted with acrylic paint. Fully and carefully detailed and mounted on a wooden base.
Likely from the 60s or 70s.
