Why so many pics? Because it is close to 100 years old and in great shape, more than I can say about myself.
This brooch, I believe, is an excellent example of the Art Nouveau period. Blue oval paste stones cover lots of the surface. All of the stones are faceted and are prong set. They glitter as if they were real jewels. The piece itself is made of a silvery looking metal worked into filigree. For all I know, the filigree backing might be silver. Very often in the 'old ages' silver was not marked, but I don't know about this one. The brooch measures 2.25 inches X 1.5 inch.
Condition: 1=so-so. 5=breath taking. THIS IS a 4.5
Reminder: the pieces that I collect are vintage, therefore the effects of the years passing by, the effects of the weather and the fact that probably they have been previously worn might show on the piece in a pronounced or almost unnoticeably way. The same way as those effects will show on humans.
Note: three white rhinestones fell off during the shooting. I order will replace them ASAP
A piece of trivia.
This brooch is one of the first pieces I ever bought, at a crummy flea market In the 1990s when I was first collecting. Can you find one like this today?
