An antique baker's linen canvas cloth dating to the late 1800s, from Eastern Europe. Raw antique fabric to use in your artwork, upholstery or antique accessory making. Mix of machine and hand-stitching. Could easily be disassembled for raw materials.
Has some stains which may or may not clean out, or could be incorporated into your reuse. Has areas with hand-stitched repairs, embroidery. This cloth and the others from the same estate appear to order be wrapping cloths, bakery table covers, liners, etc., often marked with a small embroidered symbol to distinguish it from others in a stack. Made from sections stitched together, appear to have been pulled off a roll or taken from precut sections and assembled as needed by someone who worked in the bakery or kitchen. Some are obviously made from the same material as flour and grain sacks. Heavy weight to each cloth.
Characteristics: D11 has two distinct panels with a tatted center joining the pieces. Edges are fraying and there is an uneven spot or two where it looks like a tear removed a bit of cloth Top and bottom of each panel have a single inset strip, a thread-pulled strip, to be both design and a stop to prevent fraying. I once watched my grandmother make a tablecloth edge using this technique.
