Product code: Ellis Ceramics (Australia) order Large Ashtray/Centrepiece | Model #108

Ellis Ceramics was an Australian pottery set up in 1953 by a Czechoslovakian couple, Dasa and Milda Kratochvil, in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

Their work is mainly slip-cast earthenware although they did experiment at one stage with stoneware and also made a small variety of wheel-thrown bowls and plates.

Many pieces are hand decorated or carved, some by art students. This makes each piece individual even when produced from the same mold.

THIS LISTING:

A wonderful and quite large ceramic ashtray (or centrepiece), marked model #108.

This beauty has a gorgeous orangey-red glaze, with a dark brown squiggle throughout the finish. It kinda looks like someone's drizzled chocolate syrup on it!

In excellent vintage condition, with this piece measures approx 4cm tall and order 25cm diameter.
