London in the 1960s!!!
Here is a beautiful art poster from 1966 with a celebration to London's many signs, symbols, sights... and people.
London in 1966 was known as "swinging London" as it was an interesting period to be in the British capital. The youth-driven cultural revolution was around the corner, and the city exported art, music, pop and fashion to a hungry world in abundance. "The London sound" included bands such as the Who, the Kinks, the Small Faces and the Rolling Stones. It was a place of baby boomers, Minies as England prepared for the World Cup in football.
Interestingly, this poster focuses a both on symbols of "swinging London", the worn-down post-war city and also the many London icons which is still around today.
The poster is one of three posters with London as subject which was made as final exam projects for the Danish school of Lithographs in 1966.
Please note: this poster is a printing proof and is larger than what the poster was intended to be.
