This bracelet features five solid bronze Fulani pendants in the shape of the crescent moon. This is a very old symbol, symbolizing the moon herself, further the female principle and virginity. It is associated with Shiva, Astarte, Diana and Mary... In alchemy, it represented silver. Over Shiva's head, it represents timelessness. In Crusader seals it represented the Orient (together with a star), and since the 1400's it found also its way in Islamic iconography.
So with this load of symbolism, it is not just any pendant you are wearing. And this bracelet has five of them. Because they are solid, they are quite weighty too. You will feel this one. Though it is not too heavy.
I paired them with lovely antique Venetian feather beads. These were made by hand, one by one, over a flame, 'combing' green glass over the black surface of the bead. Great craftmenship. Two of the beads have, alongside green, also red and white lines. These green feather beads are rare finds and highly collectible.
The tiny brown beads are antique Venetian trade beads too.
Great, uncommon bracelet.
SIZE: it measures approx. 6.1 to 6.7 inches (15.5 to 17 cm). See pictures for dimensions. If you need more length, I can add more rings at a small extra cost.
It closes with a order clasp that was hand made by the Asante with the lost wax method.
It comes in an FSC certified box, ready for gift giving.
It ships with track and trace.
I ship within one business day. To the USA, Canada and Australia it usually takes one to two weeks for my packages to arrive. Within Europe, delivery takes a few days up to a week. Handling at the customs may cause a delay.
