GOLD FILLED AND SILVER PLATED

Gold-filled is a United States layered gold product that is gaining popularity throughout the Americas, Asia and Europe. It is a quality material that is common in all types of jewelry. The product is easy to care for and will usually maintain its golden shine for a lifetime.

Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is jewelers' brass. A gold alloy is then bonded to one or both surfaces of the brass core with heat and pressure. There's a thick layer of real, solid 14k gold on the outside of a brass core. Our Gold-filled items are 14kt gold-filled. 14k Gold-filled products are identified as 14/20 Gold-filled; alternatively, 14kt Gold-Filled is also acceptable.

Gold filled accessories can be worn even daily without fear of fading or rubbing off for many cases as long as 30 years but keep your jewelry away from water for best result if you jewelry get in contact of water it can leave green mark on surface which can be removed with normal warm water.


GOLD VERMEIL

Vermeil refers to high quality (pure or sterling) silver that is plated with a thick layer of real gold. Most vermeil jewelry available now is created by electroplating the silver with real gold, a chemical process that uses an electrical current to bind the two metals together.
In order to be considered as true vermeil jewelry in the US, the piece has to meet certain qualifications. For instance, the gold on the piece needs to be at least 2.5 microns thick, and at least 10k or higher.


GOLD PLATING

In gold plating, any metal can be used as the base (But we use sterling silver), and the gold layer can be of varying levels of purity. This will result in order a variety of thicknesses for the gold coating. Gold plated pieces are cheaper than vermeil jewelry as the gold color is just gold color not real gold to create the core for the plating, which is dipped in gold to form a thin layer of gold plating. However, the coating can wear out eventually, leaving your jewelry with the base only. It is jewelry made of base metal silver that has a very thin layer of gold applied to the top. The layer is so thin, that it can usually be rubbed off with a coarse pencil eraser in a few swipes.
