This vintage Edward Marshall Boehm Baby Blue Jay is number 436 in the Baby bird collection (although note in the last photo that this piece is not numbered). Boehm was known for his artistic talent and the lifelike detail he brought to fine art porcelain. This little Blue Jay is a perfect example. Boehm's birds were the first to be formed of a porcelain comparable to that of European and Asian artworks. He developed a hard-paste, high-quality porcelain, and artistically detailed each piece in a matte bisque order finish. This little bird is approximately 4 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter at the base. It is signed on the underside "Where's Ma, Blue Jay, Boehm" in script, U.S.A. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. For Boehm collectors or bird collectors, this will be a wonderful addition.
I also have 3 other pieces in the Baby Bird Series listed, so if you are interested in expanding your collection, take a look!
