One of the most recognized artistic pieces of the Andean zone of Peru are these RETABLOS, pieces that have their origin in colonial times, these were articulated boxes, with paintings, that the Spanish priests carried in their trips with the objective of evangelizing all the towns of the Peruvian highlands.
It is these boxes, which in the 1940s, served as inspiration to the artisans of Cusco.
The Cusquenian artisans to create the RETABLO, an artistic and cultural expression that
whose objective is to tell a story.
In order to tell the story properly, the Cusquenian retablists work their works with great care, patience and passion,preserving their craft techniques over time.
