What, I've got here for your consideration is unusual boxed set of sterling silver condiment dinnerware spoons. There are 6 different cut-out and engraved scooped spoon leaf designs, similar offset handles and holds in which, I believe are depicting a dancing witch (you decide). On the back of each spoon there are the stamped maker markings that are all very hard to make out the clarity of these markings. Yet, the one I could make out the best read on, shows 900 as the (silver content) and the makers mark of SDL or FDL? On each of the markings they have been double stamped or have separately box stamped markings (see photo's). There are no visible origin markings on the box or spoons.
The condition on the boxed set of 6 spoons including the housed box, appear as a Very Good Plus. Starting with the box itself that shows some light corner and edge wear on the yellow and black paper covering. However, on the inside of the lid there is some minor paper tear on the bottom edge of the lid and the spoon hold box in the same area as the upper lid, there appears a paper tear as well. I think both these may have formed as a paper hinge at one time. The paper is there on both pieces just separated from the edges of upper and lower boxes (see photo's). The 6 different engraved leaf spoons are all in excellent condition except for the worn marker marking's on the bottom of each spoon. Place of origin and age are both unknown. But, my guess would be of European nature perhaps German. These do not look to be a mass produced silverware item and were probably sold as a novelty item. Totally different and unique pieces of dinnerware and great conversation pieces.
The measurements are as follows starting with the box. Height is 15/16" x Length is 5 1/2" x Width is 4 5/8". The spoon measurements order vary slightly because of the leaf widths but, are basically all the same and were taken as one laying flat. Length is 3 7/8" x Width is 7/8" x Height is 7/16".
