The Heralding of Peace
This remarkable photograph was made on the memorable night of Nov. 11, 1921, when was brought forth the era of peace on earth. This marked a new epoch in American History.... rays of 24 powerful search lights... The left of the Congressional Library... projected upon the dome of the United States Capitol. The effect was that of an Aurora Borealis that was visible for miles around.

Stephenson joined the Royal Photographic Society in 1920. He exhibited in the RPS's annual exhibition on at least one occasion. In 1920 he showed "Night on Lake George" (Bromide) and his address was noted as c/o Camera Club, New York 121 West 68th Street, New York, NY. This image was also exhibited at the New York Camera Club in New York where the reviewer Floyd Vail FRPS noted ‘George W. Stephenson was most happy in his “Night on Lake George” and “Dawn on Washington's Monument.”' (Photo Era magazine, July 1920)
The US copyright order registrations show that Heralding of Peace was registered 12 November 1921.
