Mopane is incredibly dense decorative root wood that we source from north central Namibia. It is nice, clean, and very gnarly. Each piece is unique. While mopane is often referred to as driftwood, it is actually a heavy root that does not float. Mopane is also known as mophane, mopani, cow fan, balsam tree, and butterfly tree. It is termite resistant.

The wood is non-toxic (i.e., it will not kill your fish) and ready for use in an aquarium after rinsing for 72 hours in running water. The order wood is also very dense and will sink to the bottom of an aquarium or water tank without needing slate weights.
Mopane is a desert tree with incredibly hard roots. This wood is collected in Namibia and then sandblasted to remove sand and dirt.
