Origin:
Ancient Islamic bead excavated in the area of Djenne, Mali, which was a major trading hub of the ancient Songhai Kingdom located in the Niger River loop.
This bead was in use in the Middle East from the Hellenistic period through the Roman and Islamic period.
It was made in the Mediterranean ports for trade since the Phoenicians until around 1200 AD and they arrived by caravans through the desert.
Description:
Panini in Middle Eastern and Venetian beads: " The fabrication technique consisted in the formation of a disc composed of various glass layers."
Very fine folded white stripes on a red heart.
Measurements:
12mm long and 14mm wide.
In perfect condition with a beautiful patina of used.
