I cant nail down a decade for this leather jacket patch that features one of the greatest Squadron patch designs of all time. The American Volunteer Group (AVG) order was a group of American Fighter Pilots who were essentially mercenaries flying for the Chinese against the Japanese early in WWII before joining back up with the US military after Pearl Harbor. The patch appears to be made of a leather substitute or possibly naugahyde. The Flying Tiger is sewn to the roundel. It measures about 6" x 5" and is soiled a bit as well as some smudges and loose thread or 2. Ten of the pilots went on to found Flying Tigers Lines Air Freight after the war which was the first scheduled air freight company in the US and eventually bought by Federal Express. I dont know where the patch came from or who made it, there are some close matches online at better than 2-3 times this price.
