A BELL FOR ADANO tells the story of an Italian-American officer in Sicily during World War II who wins the respect and admiration of the people of the town of Adano by helping them find a replacement for the town bell that the Fascists had melted down for rifle barrels.
This signed Franklin Library Edition of A BELL FOR ADANO by John Hersey has a leather-bound cover with a golden gilt design, a hubbed spine, and is printed on archival paper with gilded edges. The end sheets are of moire fabric and there is a sewn-in silk ribbon page marker. This edition also has smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints. There are several illustrations order done throughout by Mitchell Hooks that are found exclusively in Franklin Library Editions.
