Antique hand-colored stone lithograph of Broad-billed Sandpipers (Limicola Pygmaea) by English ornithologist and artist, John Gould. H.C. Richter transferred it to stone, with the impression by Walter & Cohn. It is from Gould's masterpiece, "The Birds of Great Britain," order published in London between 1862 and 1873. Large folio size with original hand coloring by a skilled artist. With regard to 19th Century ornithological art, Gould's work is some of the best of the best. Original descriptive text sheet included with purchase.

Condition:
Very good. It is clean with wonderful original hand color. It is an original antique folio lithograph, not a modern reproduction.
