Rare mid century large architectural tile created by Madrid ceramic artist, Antonio Salvador order Orodea. This highly stylized tile was made for the 1964-65 World's Fair in Flushing, NY.
In the glazed center is the word "Espana" within an incised outline of a pomegranate, part of Spain's coat of arms. The area outside the pomegranate design is unglazed. According to Larry Weinberg of Weinberg Modern, tiles like these were used in one of the restaurant features at the Spanish pavillion at the Fair.
A rare and amazing modernist collectible. Perfect for any history lover, architect or artist. Fully signed on the backside, "Ceramicas A. Salvador O Valdemorillo Madrid ASO Madrid Made in Spain"

Condition: Very good vintage condition. There are cracks in the glaze as shown in the last photo - these are original and not damage. Wear and abrasions are evident on all 4 corners. Priced per Condition.
