Matted and framed and in excellent condition with beautiful hand-coloring. 12.75 x 15.50 order inches is the framed dimensions. Engraved by J.C. Bentley, after William Henry Bartlett and commissioned by George Virtue of London for American Scenery, ca. 1838-40. The scene depicts a large villa high on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River with boating activity on the River and several figures climbing and looking out over the subject in the foreground. The piece is guaranteed to be an original, 19th century hand-colored steel engraving and came from a private collection in Upstate New York where it was owned since the late 1980's. This would make a great gift for the office or home or for anyone who loves the Hudson River and the history of the river.
