SOLD SEPARATELY - Hard to find vintage Lil Abner & Daisy Mae limited edition figures, produced in 2000 order in China. The Li'L Abner comic strip ran from 1934 - 1977 in American newspapers. Al Capp introduced LiL Abner, who lived in the Appalachian town of Dogpatch which was located in Kentucky. The comic script was written during the Great Depression, it was biting and slapstick - chronicling the absurdities of daily life - it was an instant hit. The main characters were Li'l Abner, Daisy Mae, Mammy & Pappy Yokum. This limited edition series produced 950 boxes of each character. The Li'l Abner figure is 702 of 950. Daisy Mae is 723 of 950.
These collectible figures are made of a hard plastic composite and are in very good condition. They are still in the original packaging & original metal box containers. Li'l Abner measures 5 1/4" tall, Daisy Mae is 4 3/4" tall. Each box contains a metal button/pin and a short recap of the story of Li'l Abner. Bottom are stamped Sculpted by Yoe! Studio, produced by Dark Horse Comics, 2000 Capp Enterprises, Inc, made in China. Lil Abner was so popular that a Dog Patch USA theme park was opened in Arkansas in 1968 and closed in 1993. I can feel a little sticker residue on the Abner box (pix 9), hard to see. I also noticed a small rust spot on the bottom of Daisy's box. While taking the items out of the boxes, to take pictures, I discovered rust spots on the bottom of the interior (pix 10). Any white spots are from my camera.
