Part of the inspiration for this painting came from reading Bob Morris' excellent book "Jamaica Me Dead" -- I LOVE the colorful cover illustration by illustrator Erik T. Johnson! Very inspiring....
The other inspiration is my fascination with oriental figurines....
This order painting was hard to photograph -- to get the colors just right -- in real life they are perfectly balanced and there are subtleties to the brush strokes that can only be seen in real life!
