In First Nations culture, Salmon is a symbol of regeneration and perseverance. Many order legends show Salmon bestowing shamans with vital knowledge and powers. Salmon is often associated with twins and carved in pairs.
Grant Pauls is a Tahltan Nation artist well known for his intricate cut-out silver and gold jewellery. He studied with renowned carver, Terrence Campbell from Prince Rupert, BC. Grant uses a combination of different jewellery making techniques to produce his Tahltan pieces with a modern flare. In addition to creating his stunning art and jewellery, Grant works with Indigenous Bands throughout the Yukon Territory in the field of mediation and negotiation. Grant currently lives and works from Vancouver, British Columbia.
