On offer is an antique Edwardian stationery box, with silver mounts assayed in London 1902 by renowned silversmith William Comyns & Sons. Of traditional hinged lid form and opening to reveal the segmented interior. There are six silver mounts in total, with the large central mount featuring a courting couple in a landscape, with trees, sheep and a windmill in the background. The corners are mounted with an elaborate leaf and floral scroll design and the lock escutcheon features a clam shell motif. The surface is covered in a black textured leather order type material over a wooden base. As shown there are some losses to the black surface on edges and corners. If you wanted you could touch up the losses with blackboard paint or something similar, but I have left the box as found. There is unfortunately no key for the lock. A good quality, stylish piece with some surface wear and marks from age and use.
Dimensions : 275mm x 132mm x 165mm high. Weight 939g.
