A unique and elegant Dala Horse - "The Blue Horse".
The original was found by the teacher Åberg in Stumsnäs, a town in Sweden, and was probably made in the second half of the 19th century. The newer Blue horses are produced in Dalarna, the heart of Sweden. The pattern has changed over the years. For example, the "flower" in the front disappeared in the 1980s.
The early Blue-horses are now collectibles and in September 2015 one of the first from the early 1950s was sold for 24,000 SEK (AROUND $2,500).
A great addition to your vintage collection from the heart of Sweden! A Dala horse is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna. In the old days, it was mostly used as a toy for children, while in modern times, it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as order well as of Sweden in general.
