Product code: American Polynesian Lamp 1831 Mignon order Female Bust Chalkware Works
American Indian Lamp 1831 Mignon Female Bust Chalkware Works American Indian but lamp in excellent condition. She is hand painted and marked with the name "Mignon" on the front and 1831 etched on the back side. Artist signature is on the front as well but not legible. We found some information on Mignon: a character in Ambroise Thomas's order 1866 opera Mignon based on Goethe's 1795 novel Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship. We had a male partner to this lamp but sadly broke in shipping. We have saved it because at this point I believe it could be salvaged by a plaster artist. Only the bottom portion broke into 3 pieces so the face is intact completely as is the lamp mechanics. If you would like to see it drop us a note and we will send you some photos. Bust measures 18" tall / including lamp stem approx 22" / no shade included The cord is certainly an older one perhaps from the 1960's. I believe these were originally busts that an artesian crafted into lamps.
