This is a Kiyomizu ware flat bowl with a purple flower pattern by Morisato Toraku.

It is very elegant with the delicate Inka pattern and dancing white mud pattern harmonized with the purple and gold colors.

The purple and gold colors are well harmonized. The shape is graceful and very elegant.
The fine mizushima is rhythmically arranged as if a flower has opened.

The brushwork on the underside of the rim, such as the ringed flowers, is very careful and detailed.

It is a bowl with a soft landscape that gives a sense of glamour in the midst of austerity.

This is a series of purple colored flower patterns. The gold and purple are good accents to the delicately decorated inka pattern.
It can be used for both Japanese and Western dishes.

Ceramic history: Morisato Toraku, Toraku Kiln

Studied under Gyokudo Tezuka and Dohra II. In 1996, he assumed the name of the third generation of potter.
While being particular about the clay of his works, he devotes himself to creating vessels that can convey an impression to the user.
His outstanding techniques, such as the extremely delicate Mishima technique, have been highly evaluated.


Born in 1959 in Kyoto Prefecture.
Awarded the Minister of International Trade and Industry Prize at the Kyoto Kiyomizu Pottery Exhibition
Awarded the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Member Prize at the National Exhibition of Traditional Crafts
