Let's talk about where Mermaid Tail Succulents come from.
Mermaid Tails are a genetic mutation of the succulent “Senecio Vitalis.” The genetic mutation is often referred to as a “crest.” Any Senicio Vitalis succulent has the possibility of forming a crest. However, not all of them do and this is why the Mermaid Tail is considered rare. Each mermaid tail is completely unique. They come in all shapes and sizes. You may notice brownish-orange markings on your mermaid tail. This is normal. Often these are pieces that touched the ground during their growth process. The area that touches the ground hardens but is still healthy. I embrace the imperfections exhibited in these plants because , for me, it adds to their unique beauty.
This Mermaid Tail you purchase from this listing, is currently unrooted.
I can ship as a cutting for you to root at home or I can reserve your purchase and root it for you, then send it bare root, pot not included. Please choose rooted or unrooted when making your selections at checkout, for your purchase. Rooting is different for every plant. the general amount of time to expect your Mermaid Tail to root is 3-4 weeks from the time of purchase. Some plants do take longer. Telling nature what to do isn't really an option. I will update you throughout the process, so that you know what to expect, when I know.
With every purchase, I include detailed care and rooting instructions. In case you're worried about rooting your plant on your own, don't be. I promise you that it is a very easy process and my instruction will tell you exactly what you need to do.
BE AWARE:
*General lighting conditions required to successfully grow your Mermaid Tail:
Mermaid tails are sun loving succulents but can handle a wide range of lighting conditions. From partial shade to full sun. My preference is Partial sun.
*Mermaid Tails are succulents and, like most succulents, they will not survive a freeze.
