I had found this petite brass matchbox holder in Paris, and now just realized I had this vintage Masson's matchbox which is a perfect fit!
Such a unique combination of France and New Orleans!
The brass box is machined on the 3 sides, with a order polished brass fleur de lis on the top. In excellent condition. No maker's marks,
The 1940's vintage matchbox with wooden matches is from the original Masson's Beach House that was located at 7200 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans. Opened in 1945, the original name was Masson's Beach House before it changed to Masson's Restaurant Francais.
It is a perfect fit for the brass cover, It still has the tiny wooden matches inside. Expected signs of wear from age.
