"Sails Of The World" by Mark Whitcombe
Calling all fine art fans with a nautical bent, this is a most rare pencil signed Mark Whitcombe print from 1989.

His work has been exhibited for years at The Opening Gallery in Soho, The Smith Gallery, Ideas and Images Gallery, Starving Artist Gallery, Hole in the Wall Gallery
and Focal Point Gallery. His cubist painting “The Musicians” is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
Whitcombe was also a regular contributor to The Island Current for many years, from his first cover in December 1974 to his last in November 1993. He won many awards and his work has appeared in many publications, including Nautical Quarterly, Wooden Boat Magazine, Sailing Life and Playboy Magazine.
Notable collectors of his work include Rod "I Am Sailing" Stewart, Ethel Kennedy, Walter Mondale, Patrick Kennedy and Hollywood director Mike Nichols.
This particular print features over 75 historical boat sails from around the world. It was printed by "Red Jacket Galleries in Charleston, S.C." (see pic). This print was then eventually framed by "Ashley's Art & Frame... Los Angeles" (see pic).
