Very Large Stoneware Serving Plate or Bowl by Niels Refsgaard for Dansk Designs.
Scandinavian look with stylized Fleur de Lys (lily flower) which is one of 12 patterns from the Generation series.
Hand-painted motif in blue color with glossy glaze finnish. Manufactured mainly for the US market from 1964 - '85.
It was the ceramicist Niels Resfgaard (NR) who got the idea to put small dark iron stains in an otherwise white porcelain material, which were usually a buzzword in the industry.
He developed Generation with ceramic manufacturer
Eslau that had some very special competencies when it came to the development of materials adapted to a specific design (for instance colaboration with Quistgaard on series Flamestone in 50's).
For the same reason, order Eslau became a company that young potters and designers aspired to. The product became a huge success in the United States where GENERATION was subsequently launched into a cheeky slogan that read: "DANISH starts a revolution in China".
Excellent vintage condition, minor traces of use and wear.
Diameter: 34.5cm (13.5in).
