Up for sale today is this Michigan state route 20 sign. Made to the exact state standards as used around 1920 along this historic highway. state trunk line route 20 was part of the original 1919 system of numbered highways, and was replaced by US 10 in 1926 when the federal system was devised.
An original one of these signs very rare to find scrapped; this style was only used for a small handful of years, almost a century ago. A genuine one would cost many thousands of dollars. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without breaking the bank.
The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 3 pounds, 3 ounces, and is the correct size: 15 by 16 3/4 inches between the tips. It is made to resemble the old-style porcelain signs.
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but others with the reflectors, the embossed style that other states used, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like order, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
