Almost a Noren ... a scarf ... or a blouse ...
Rarity from my collection of special motifs for lovers and collectors of precious fabrics and textile artists!
Exclusive ancient Japanese kimonoids
estimated age between 1900 and 1940, possibly older
So-called Ro-silk, strips of view and air permeable
One can only guess how this was made. Cranes are woven into the light back, which are not visible on the orange-red/beige striped one. On the front side, the turquoise-petrol-green bamboo leaves appear to be printed.
Amazing textile art!
Since this fabric was already processed, it has needle traces from earlier seams. The cleaned silk has minimal traces of patina in a few places. There are a few point-sized holes at a height of about 65 cm, as can be seen in the last photo.
It was already taken in Japan in elaborate fine work from an otherwise no longer wearable kimono and cleaned.
34 cm x 310 cm!!!
(Size table for comparison: 100 cm x approx. 37 cm=39.37 inches x approx. 14.56 inches= 1.09 yards x approx. 0.40 yards)**General information on original Japanese kimono fabrics: As a rule, only a quantity of 12 m x 36-38 cm is produced for a kimono. This is always unique, from design to weaving to dyeing/printing/painting/embroidery. What a respectful handling of materials! No other identical fabric is produced. The patterns always vary, as does the material setting. With such a piece, you acquire a unique order one. <
*NOTE:
*** /. !!!***
NOTE on material used in my shop: I usually manufacture my products from older vintage materials from Japanese and vintage fabrics from rural oriental areas, as well as old silk fabrics and wool fabrics. The material used is, for example, original Japanese kimono fabrics, unique pieces limited to a maximum of 12 m x 36 cm-38 cm, which were designed and manufactured only for a kimono - not new - but often unprocessed so far. For old, limited fabrics, there is therefore no manufacturer's certificates.
For better orientation, each original Japanese kimono roll is unique of a maximum of 12 m x 36-38 cm (= 13 yards x 0.39 - 0.40 yards = 472 inches x 14-15 inches)!
