Charles H. Baker order Jr. Exotic Vintage 1959 Signed Autograph "The Esquire CULINARY COMPANION" Cookbook/Travel 1st Edition

An excellent example of this vintage Culinary/Beverage/Travel writer's signature (think the 1st Robin Leach). A pen written 3.25 X .75 inch signature on the first inside page. First Edition from 1959 and in excellent shape (see photos). Charles spent much of his life traveling the world and chronicling food and drink recipes for magazines like Esquire, Town & Country, and Gourmet. This exotic cookery book has 700 recipes order including a company of hand-picked recipes, mixology critiques and destination reviews through 12 European countries. No photos as was the style in the 50's. 320 pages written and recorded through vintage eyes. Truly a piece of culinary history. The book with slip-sleeve measures 9.75 X 6.5 X 1 inches. Hardcover. A great piece of culinary history and with Charles H. Baker Jr's signature! Clean book for its age with no tears, dog-ears or creases with just some slight nicks and wear on the slip-sleeve (see photos). Note the signature is not personalized so it will make an excellent gift. I am a recently retired Professional Chef and I have been blessed and honored to have worked with many celebrity chefs and have amassed quite a collection of signed cookbooks. This is one of the very few books I did not get personally from the author. Charles lived most of his life in South Florida and I lived there for 20 years. I got the book from a respected Antiquarian, Collectable book store in the town next to where Charles lived in the mid-80's. Charles passed away in 1987. ALL OF MY CHEF AUTOGRAPHED COOKBOOKS ARE PART OF MY PRIVATE COLLECTION. Now it is time to thin out my bookshelves! It is my hope that this book goes to an appreciative home.
