Batik Cotton Sarong Fabric Beautiful Handmade Indonesian Batik Kain Tulis from Solo order City Indonesia Batik Hand Drawn
A beautiful old hand made Batik from Solo in Central Java.
A beautiful, old, hand made Batik from Solo in Central Java. Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.
From the old batik centre of Solo in Central Java, this one has a dark blue background with a traditional pattern in brown and white. It is in good condition order on good soft cotton, but has three or four rice grain size holes and one small patch (see photos).
A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is 105cm high by 240cm long.
A superb example of Indonesian batik.
