We are delighted to bring you these fourteen rare Victorian hand painted prints from J order. Leech's "Comical History of England"

These plates were drawn by John Leech and they contain numerous satirical interpretations of English history. The author of the book was one of the original contributors to Punch magazine. The satirical influence is clearly seen here.

The prints include the following scenes: Sir Walter Raleigh placing his cape over a puddle for Elizabeth I, Charles II hiding from Republicans in an oak tree, the marriage of Henry the VI and his marriage to Margaret of Anjou, a depiction of English crusaders in Jerusalem. Lord George in his cell (from Barnaby Rudge), Hugh taken (from Barnaby Rudge), Henry VIII sacking the monasteries, a scene from the Pickwick Papers (Dickens) and many more

These plates are individually wrapped and ready to be mounted in a frame.

Each picture (including frame) is 25.5 cm wide and 20 cm tall.

These are already mounted on card and can be easily framed.
