These sterling silver earrings feature 5 carats of carved Crystal Quartz beads (9mm), 4.5 carats of faceted Blue Apatite rondelles (3mm) and 1.5 carats of faceted Tsavorite Garnet rondelles (2mm).

*Quartz is one of the most well-known minerals on earth. It occurs in basically all mineral environments, and is the important constituent of many rocks. Quartz is also the most varied of all minerals, occurring in all different forms, habits, and colors.

Quartz frequently forms the inner lining of geodes. Most geodes have an inner layer of larger crystalline Quartz, and an outer layer of Chalcedony or banded Agate.

*Garnet is the birthstone for January and the gem for the 2nd wedding anniversary.

Tsavorite garnet is a rare green to emerald colored variety of grossular garnet. The intense green of tsavorite is owed to traces of vanadium or chromium. This desirable hue can cause tsavorite to be mistaken for fine emeralds.

The name "tsavorite" comes from the place where it was first discovered; Tsavo National Park in Tanzania on the borders of Kenya and Tanzania.

These tsavorite garnets were mined in Tanzania.

* Apatite occurs in such a wide variety of attractive colors and forms, it is a favorite among gemstone collectors.

The name 'apatite' was derived from a Greek word meaning 'cheat'. It was given its name because of its close resemblance to several other gemstones that are often more valuable. As a result, apatite became unfairly labeled as the 'deceitful stone'.

It is found in a number of places in the world, including Myanmar (Burma), India, Kenya, Brazil, Norway, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Mexico, Canada and the United States. These order blue Apatite gems were mined in Brazil.

*These earrings come expertly packaged in a beautiful blue gift box and finished with a satin ribbon. Also in the box: a Sunshine Soft polishing cloth and an anti-tarnish pad to keep your jewelry shiny and clean.
