Timber Woodland Cottage is a quaint fairy house tucked away deep in the overgrown forest. Created from resourced materials found right outside fairy's door, this cottage is full of rustic charm.
This piece was inspired by the image of a forest floor overgrown and flourishing with plants, mosses, and fungus. I imagined a glimpse of this fairy home in a sunny forest clearing.
The rustic wooden door with metal decorative inlay is one of my favorite features of this fairy house. The entrance is adorned with a round bench sourced from a sliver of lumber. A pinecone glow lantern (glow marble) is tucked into the outer bark paneling. On the other side, soft fuzzy blush flowers grow from an old bark remnant. Resting next to the doorway are collected forest flowers set in a sweet walnut basket.
Four crisscross lattice windows, with blush crochet curtains, can be found around the base of the fairy house. Jade colored rocks cover the base of the front and back of the house and complement the green mosses and blush-colored flowers and window coverings.
The steeple is created with three different variations of seeds and order seedpods. Lead tree seedpods run the length of the belfry, the lantern has cascading devils' breath seeds, and the spire is an opening seed boll. A glimpse of sunshine can shine through the round window decorated with vines, bark, and crocheted blush curtains. The steeples towers white stone brick peaks through the bark paneling in the front and back of the fairy house. The roof is comprised of layers of pinecone and four varieties of moss. Climbing Turkey tail mushrooms (painted clay mushrooms) emerge from the sloping side of the pinecone roofs shingles.
The back of the fairy house has a sweet Catalpa seedpod swing chair, with a cozy handmade pillow and knit blanket, to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest.
**A Few Art Piece Notes**
The doors and windows are purely decorative and not intended to open or see in.
The decorative elements of this piece are especially fragile and are not intended for children's play. The cottage is not treated to be an outdoor art piece and is recommended as something to be enjoyed in a safe space. Thank you.
HANDMADE DISCLAIMER
I collect and use found in nature materials in combination with recyclable items, synthetic materials, craft and hardware supplies.
Natural elements are sanitized to prevent any insects. The only tiny creatures I would like these homes to invite, is fairy folk.
The materials and supplies used in the fairy houses can have natural and synthetic smells and fallen debris.
A lot of materials don't like to stay put. This is the case with things that can be difficult to glue in place like moss, soil, synthetic grass, etc.
**I do my best to make sure the fairy house features are secure and durable, but please keep in mind they are still fragile art pieces that will have natural imperfections. **
In addition, I am an avid recycler and often keep packaging from other places to reuse in shipping the fairy houses. I will take great care to preserve the integrity of the package for shipping. Please don't be surprised if there are seven different types of bubble wrap. Lol!
