Product code: Rare very graphic all metal gold medals circles brass brown wall lamp light chocolate sconce mid century order modern German design seventies

In this listing we are very pleased to offer an amazing mid century wall lamp.

It is made of a curved chocolate brown coated frame with 6 asymmetrically placed round cut outs. These cut outs are 80% covered by brass discs (like medals) with the light escaping through the open 20% on top of the "gold" medals.

At the same time light radiates from the top and bottom of the lamp.

It gives a stunning light effect.

We would rate it as very rare. There are no markings at all on the lamp.

The closest style and light effect references we could find are the very rare Raak Amsterdam Clin d'Oeil (wink) wall lamp (Raak model no. C-1702) and the more common Raak Amsterdam Sterre(n)regen (Rain of Stars) wall light by designer Jelle Jelles (Raak model no. C-1627). Both these lamps date from the second half of the 1960s.

We believe our lamp on offer here dates from the 1970s. Our order best guess - based on the finishing, quality and our experience - is that it was made in Germany with companies like Doria Leuchten, Kaiser Leuchten, Solken Leuchten and especially German/Swiss Temde Leuchten being potential manufacturers but we have no proof to back this claim up (yet). Designer E.R. Nele designed the Neunage (model 1807) in 1970 for Temde Leuchten. That lamp is so rare that we have never even seen one for sale.

Any information about the origin of the lamp on offer here is welcome!

The subtly curved shade is fixed to a wall fixture with two bolts that can be unscrewed by hand. The wall fixture can be screwed to your wall with four screws. The wall fixture also holds the porcelain bulb holder. Simple and effective.

The coating on the inside of the shade and the entire wall fixture is white.

The lamp takes 1 E27 bulb with screw type fitting.

It is fitted with 289 centimeters / 113.78 inches of new white lamp cord, a new 2-pin flat European plug and the original inline switch that came with the lamp.

Measurements:
Height: 22.5 centimeters / 8.86 inches
Width: 24.5 centimeters / 9.64 inches
Depth: 10 centimeters / 3.94 inches

Weight: 1030 grams.

Condition:
Very good to excellent condition.

This is a used lamp of around 45 to 50 years of age.

The shape is still perfect. No deformations in the metal. No dents.

The chocolate brown coating is of excellent quality. Colors even throughout. There is no paint loss anywhere! There are a few rubbing lines and needle points but these will not draw your attention in everyday use.

The brass disc medals have minor blemish but are otherwise in great condition too. We have not tried to polish them.

Coating in the inside in very good condition with a bit of light staining and one scuff with paint loss above a cut out but that is on the backside of the shade so totally out of sight from any angle.

Wall fixture and porcelain bulb holder in great condition. They hardly show their age.

Wiring and plug are new. Inline switch has age related discoloration. If so desired we can change it to a new fresh white one free of charge. Just let us know when you order this lamp.
