Product code: Hand Knotted order 21.5” x 44” Turkish Bokhara rug, Excellent Condition
This is an mid-century Turkish rug. It is hand knotted with all wool fiber on a cotton warp and weft as are the majority of all oriental rugs. Many Afghan and Caucasian rugs are all wool order and some Turkish and Iranian rugs are silk but comparatively few. The design is geometric and the dyes used are not synthetic. It is a country rug not made in a factory but likely by one person on a home loom. It has an all over pattern with the typical octagonal motif with an unusual nine borders outside the central field. It has approximately 104 hand tied knots per square inch, a total of almost 100,000, making it a medium fine rug. It is red, white and dark brown or black. This rug is in excellent condition for its age, has no worn spots and no stains. I have been selling on eBay for 24 years and have 100% feedback under the name Acanthus. Oriental rugs need not be so expensive but be aware of machine made rugs as well as factory made hand-tied rugs using petrochemicals and poorly paid labor.
