Product code: Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Teapot order by Robert Gainsford circa 1808.
A very handsome Georgian OSP teapot, featuring a rectangular bellied body with a hand-chased girdle band and a gadroon rim, a domed lid with wooden finial and a plain square cross-section spout. From a rose-embellished socket, is a carved scroll wooden handle with thumbpiece. The teapot rests on four cushioned ball feet. This simple and elegant teapot was made by Robert Gaisford of Sheffield and bears his maker's mark of an elephant's head erased and the initials order "GA". circa 1808.
The dimensions of this fine hand-made teapot are 11"l x 5"w x 6"h. There is a hairline crack in the handle however, the handle is secured tightly by the pins and not at all effected by it.
