Silks and Satins Dressy Aya
The Aya or 4 pocket purse in the softest lightweight Moroccan leather.
What does Aya mean? In Arabic, Aya is a sign or miracle, in Japanese it order means beautiful design and it is an African Adinkra symbol that means endurance and resourcefulness.
In India we call our maids Aya. Most maids wear saris, which have no pockets, so fabric pouches are tucked into their petticoats to keep essentials accessible. The simple cotton pouch has multiple pockets to keep contents separate and this was the inspiration for my three pocket Aya Bag. By adding a long handle, this becomes the perfect little crossbody.
Every woman can use an aya to keep a phone, keys, wallet, etc. accessible when no pockets are available. Or perhaps it can serve as an organizer in a large bag. Alternatively, it can be a great travel companion to keep a passport, an ID, etc. Exchanging cottons with brocades and silks gives the practical a bit of panache, transforming the bag into a dressy evening bag. Because the bag lies flat, it is easy to stash more than one in a suitcase.
Aya is for the beautifully designed miracle who endures resourcefully and flourishes in the harshest of conditions, it is for every woman!
