This is a rare and unusual Flower of Life reliquary hand embroidered by nuns in the 19th century. It is like a small pouch or cushion containing a written prayer and or a relic.
The symbolism of the embroidery is a cross within the flower of life.
The embroidery is done in gold bullion wire in the Zardozi style, tiny tassels and two ivory silk ribbons would have been to attach this precious ex voto to the hand or costume of a santos doll or virgin statue.
The pouch measures 1 & 1/2 inches by 1 & 1/2 inches. The length with ribbons and tassels is 11 inches. Embroidered on both sides, roughly 1/2 of an order inch in depth.
