The beautiful Marcus Brothers woven raffia black beaded handbag is in very good to great condition. The gorgeous evening bag has four gold-tone feet on the bottom. The black cloth-like interior is very soft. The interior of the bag has a badge that shows it was made in Japan. The gold-tone metal frame is accented with what appears to be a long black Lucite strip running from end to end. At the top of the frame, the kissing lock (clasp) blends perfectly with the rounded handle mounts. Another interesting design feature of this particular evening bag can be seen in the form of the handle. While the fixed top-handle appears to be in the shape of a "U", one end has an ever so slight (practically invisible) arched section to allow the bag to fit much more comfortably in the hand. This very slight arch slightly increases the length at the top of the "U". The woven beaded covering of the fixed gold-tone metal handle ties in the top of the bag with the rest of the body.

The exquisite black jeweled beads woven together with the raffia gives this particular evening bag a very luxurious and formal appearance. However, at the same time, the timeless frame-bag design makes it very comfortable for many occasions.

This gorgeous evening bag has one main section. Inside that main section there is a zipper section on one side and an open pouch section on the other.

While "Marcus Brothers" is not on the badge that notes "made in Japan", each end of the metal frame hinge has an "M" on the gold-tone button head. However, our search for a brand did not stop there. The many accents along with the design of this particular bag have many consistencies with Marcus Brothers bags.

1) The gold-tone fixed handle mounts match those on an identified Marcus Brothers bag.
2) The slight arch in the handle matches that on an identified Marcus Brothers bag.
3) The jeweled beads match those used on an identified Marcus Brothers bag.

Please note that the phrase "on an identified Marcus Brothers bag" simply means these characteristics are consistent with a Marcus Brothers bag that has the brand label intact.

The bag has not been polished up or washed to make it look good for pictures. It is simply a very clean handbag. While we lightly wiped the beads down, there appears to be some very tiny dust particles down in the crevice of the hinge. But, we felt that in no way does this warrant risking the bag by washing it. In addition, sometimes beaded bags can have a little dust that may not be easily detectable until placed in the right lighting and at just the correct angle.

There are no bad odors, punctures, or repair places on this gorgeous black beaded evening bag. There are some vintage wear and rub marks on the bag. The Lucite strip has some rub marks or slight surface scratches. The beaded covering on the fixed gold-tone handle has some wear with what appears to be one bead missing. The beaded covering will slide back and forth on the handle. However, this may actually be a design feature so the bead covering does not break or get a stress tear. The interior appears to be very clean. However, there may be some tiny particles show up simply from being released from a crack or corner. The gold-tone metal frame is in very good condition showing a very slight amount of age and wear. The kissing lock (clasp) closure is in excellent working condition which is a sign that this handbag has not seen a lot of use. Also, the fixed handle mounts are firmly intact and in excellent working condition.

This would be a gorgeous bag to use for so many occasions. The gorgeous appearance makes it perfect for a wedding or a job interview. In addition, the timeless frame-bag design and slight arch in the handle make it easy to use and comfortable to carry.

The top-handle evening bag measures 12" in wide x 4.5" deep x 6.75" tall to the top of the rim opening and 11.75" tall to the top of the raised handle.

The gold-tone metal frame measures 7 3/8" wide.

The distance between the handle mounts measure 4.75" from center to center.
