What type of screws do I need?
Our mounting bracket has slots to accomodate ¼” screws. We recommend using pan head or hex screws. Screw length will depend on the installation surface and/or thickness of your table top. The folks at your local hardware store can better advise.
How do I select the right leg height for my project?
To determine the right height, first consider how high you want the top surface of your piece to be overall and then deduct the thickness of the material you will be mounting the legs to. For example, if you want your dining room table to stand at 30” high and your wooden table top is 2” thick, we would recommend the 28” height.
Below is a list of standard heights for common DIY projects.
12 - 18” - Coffee Table (the table should be lower than 2” from the seat of your couch)
16” - Bench
28” - Dining Table, Desk (there should be 12” between your seating and the top of the table).
28 - 30” - Entryway, Foyer Table, Console Table, Sofa Table (the table should be level with the back of the sofa or 1” below it)
Will I need to finish or treat the raw steel legs?
Yes. Overtime, raw steel will naturally oxidize (rust); how fast that will occur depends on your local climate conditions. To finish your legs, you have many options. The majority of our customers spray paint their legs and any paint primer intended for metal will do the job. If you wish to keep the industrial look of the raw steel, Penetrol, available online and at most big box stores in the States, is also an effective sealant. To preserve your piece for many years to come, we recommend powder coating your legs. If you wish to purchase the service please see our listing here: https://etsy.me/2WfKPsB
We also make aluminum legs. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the great thing with aluminum is that it will never rust. To view our collection of aluminum tubed legs please visit: https://etsy.me/2LcD1j4
