order Chinese Art Deco dress clips are a RARE find today since so many have been repurposed into brooches, pendants or earrings. Finding an intact pair is a true rarity. These date from about 1920 and are in original condition. They measuresa little over 1.25 inches in diameter and consist of a pearlescent white enamel ground with a floral motif in teal, greens and coral. There is a small repair on the edge of one which is barely noticeable in person but is more evident in the photos. China in the 1920s was influenced by Western design and the fur clips of Western women spurred a change in the Chinese clips of the era which had formerly been used more as a chatelaine which was used in Victorian times to hold small scissors and other items of personal use. I have been collecting Chinese enamel items for decades and this is the first pair of intact dress clips I have found.
