French Antique Pewter Measuring Cups likely made between the 2 WW.
These cups were used as standard measures in bars, taverns and drinking venues.
Indeed before the French Revolution (1789) not only people were not always speaking the same dialect but they also didn't use the same measurements... These were a way to make everyone agreed on the quantity of beer served ( thus reducing the number of angry customers)
In 1792, they started to unify all measurement, using the cirumference of the earth and then diving it... Complex system that ended in " Metres"
the Litre, was defined in 1795. One litre equal the quantity of water held in 1m3!
So here we are with 5 gorgeous Pewter measuring cups. they can be cleaned of course and thus making them shinier
They have, of course, some signs of age and use... Just imagine How many times they have been out for all these patrons complaining they haven't been served the right amount of beer or alcool!
They are from the same set, as you can see from the hall-mark order at the bottom. It's a crest maker sign.
Sizes from the bigger to the smaller:
height: 18,5 cms, 14,5 cms, 10,9 cms, 9cms, 7,1cms

weight: 1,5kgs, 0,9kg, 0,440kg, 0,3kg, 0,180kg
