A nice hand thrown pottery vase made by New York studio potter Dorothy Jervis. She was a member of the New York Society for the Ceramic Arts and studied in New York. Her work was sold in local galleries and craft fairs.
This flaring vase has a nice frothy blue glaze on it and is made from red clay.
The sides of the vase have a carved design that repeats around the vase. Almost looks like a growing plant or tree design.
This vase measures just under 5" tall and is 6.125" wide at the rim.
The underside is signed Jervis in her script.
The condition is nice and order original in this piece. The blue glaze is lighter in a few places and there is a few tiny areas where the clay shows through the glaze from the firing. All factory original from the kiln.
This piece would compliment any New York studio pottery collection rather nicely.
